Internet Identification
My kids are growing older and more capable on the internet. I want to keep my name "DevilBlueDress" but essentially make it unsearchable. I've locked certain blogs and online communities. I've changed my blogger ID to "DBD."
I'm looking for advice- especially on the technical side of the little things that I need to do so that I don't show up *easily* in a Goggle search. Has anyone gone through this before?
Thanks.

You could probably get away with just using the login/user functionality in your operating system. Let the kids set up their own desktop on their log in while safely locking your browser history and everything else away on yours :)

Hey DBD, I agree with P&P that you probably should start securing your windows or mac sign in if you haven't already so things like your internet cache, documents, etc. are safe from prying young eyes; but I don't think that was the answer you were looking for.
Unfortunately search engines are their own monsters and are challenging to deal with. Most of the time you work and work to get listed more and they never do; when you want out they're equally reluctant. Fortunately you may have a few things going for you, namely that "Devil in a Blue Dress" is a movie which will dominate the search results. Also, if you kids never hear you make a reference to that name, and they never find it on your computer, there would be no real reason to go searching for it. Finally, and maybe most important, if your kids are anything like we were, the last thing they really want to know about is your sex life.
My advice, as someone who also values anonymity online is to keep your real name away from your pseudonym and vice versa. Don't use the same accounts, email addresses or email boxes, blog services, whatever. The further apart you keep the association, the more likely Google will never know.
I know that doesn't answer your real question, but short of unlisting your blogs and praying, that's all I got.
