Real time chatroom for the community
I was reading the post " These are Just Thoughts (re: communities as a whole)and posted a comment there, bat as it may be missed as a few posts old,,,,,,,,I thought I'd toss it out here. What do you think? :)
I'd be willing to start a channel on IRC, perhaps Dalnet, where bloggers could join in and share if any are interested. I can't be the moderater every day....1-2 nights a week, but an official real-time chat room might be of help if other members would kick in time wise....:)
It's free, just time, no money, no ads. Just a place for like minded members to yak with eachother, and visitors of this site.

I've already offered to host a forum on AlexSuze.com. If the concensus is that it would be useful, let me or Mr G know and we'll set it up.
With a forum the accumulated threads woud create a knowledgebase that would exist as long as the forum exists. Chat is a little more transient and less manageable.
A forum does offer ongoing discussion, with topics, that can be external to each individual blog and they do promote a different spin or communique. Chat's cool too, and transient...and then there are timezone differences as well.
personally i prefer chat. forum's annoy me with all the clicking...
but it's one of those tomaytoe tomahtoh things
I'd have to agree the 6 of 1 half dozen another. I can see the benefits and downsides of both.
Whichever if either is taken up, glad to help. :)
A forum should only be required if we wish to break the Community down into different areas, at this moment I don't see this as necessary, at least not until we become a lot bigger and maybe need to split into areas such as Promotion, different writing styles and the like.
Tags would handle this for a while anyway .
Chat I could see as a good thing, the ability to get to know each other a lot better.
I love the idea of forums. Chat can eat up time so fast and people are all over the world. An interesting idea would be to consider posting chat's though- with all party's agreement.
I also like to be able to go back, reread and think.
logging on irc, would allow this, atleast the main room if not the private messages, if interested....let me know...:)
I registered a channel on dalnet, #SexBloggerCom, sorry, but SBC is the corporate name a major phone company here..:)
I'm currently the founder, but will transfer rights to MrGently, or any other the community decides...if we are going to use it. just thought it was a good idea to have it in place should we go there.
Hi ZigZagman.
How dare SBC claim the rights, We'll be bigger than them one day, we may even buy them. Hence the need for Ads :-P
I'm very keen to back up the Community side of SBC, I see no need to transfer the rights to myself, keep hold of them.
